SCE Accessible Hazard Alert System

Welcome to Southern California Edison’s Accessible Hazard Alert System (AHAS) website.

To protect communities in high fire risk areas from the risk of wildfire, we might temporarily shut off power when weather and fire experts forecast dangerous conditions, including strong winds and dry vegetation. These outages are called Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) and are a last-resort measure to keep communities safe.

Whenever possible, customer notifications typically begin 1-2 days ahead of anticipated de-energization or power shutoff. Additional notifications are sent:

  • 1-4 hours before anticipated shutoff
  • When shutoff is initiated
  • Immediately before restoring power begins, and
  • When power restoration is complete.
We will keep customers updated regularly on SCE’s website and social media.

To make sure notifications are provided in formats accessible to people who are deaf, blind, hard of hearing, or deaf/blind, SCE partners with Deaf Link to provide PSPS alerts and preparedness information.

During a PSPS, dial 211 or 1-800-402-4018 for Video Relay Services, text ‘psps’ to 211211 or visit 211now.com, for help with transportation, backup power, food and other support services.

Customers can verify and update their information and notification preferences at sce.com /MySCE/preference-center. If you don’t have an SCE customer account, you can sign up for alerts at sce.com/PSPSAlerts.
